Machiko's return to her hometown as a new teacher begins with an unsettling run-in with unruly students on her way to school. Once inside the classroom she realizes these same individuals are among her assigned pupils, and the tension quickly escalates again. Uoi appears to intervene and restore calm, yet the discovery that he leads the group leaves Machiko uncertain about whom she can rely on as she tries to establish her authority.
